Vassilios Makrakis is currently a Professor at Frederick University, Cyprus, UNESCO Chairholder of ICT in Education for Sustainable Development at the University of Crete, and Director of the RCE Crete (Regional Center of Expertise in Education for Sustainable Development). In the past, he has worked at various Universities and research centers such as the University of Stockholm, Hiroshima University in Japan, and the National Institute of Educational Research of Japan, as well as a consultant at the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates. His work has been acknowledged through various prizes and distinctions among them, the Japan Foundation Fellowship, Canon Foundation Fellowship, and Excellence Award by the Greek Ministry of Education. He is the author of several books and more than 200 articles published in collective volumes, international journals, and conference proceedings. Prof. Makrakis has also coordinated and participated in more than 15 European, international, and national projects in the field of ICT and Education for Sustainable Development.
